So you can essentially search for something, get the benefit of contributing positively to the environment, but still get all of the perks of Google and other sites. What’s interesting though is that they have implemented a way to overcome any of those shortcomings compared to Google: tags. However, the interface is sleek (think a less cluttered Google) and they have good image and news results. It doesn’t have any of the frills that Google has, such as the bios that you get when searching people or the definitions or conversions. Well, is Ecosia actually a good search engine? The answer here is kind of interesting. They also send profits to various tree projects around the world. It is worth noting that this is self reported due to Ecosia being a private company without investors, so we have to trust what’s there.
